USB Flash drive: Popup opens for "What do you want Windows to do" but is blank.
Running Win XP Home and recently lost all the icons and verbiage in the popup window that opens when a USB Flash Drive is inserted. The window opens with the drive letter of the USB drive at the top, but the rest of the window is blank.Might I have stopped a service or something? I can access the drive and all info by going through Windows Explorer, but there are those in the family that do not know this process. How can I get the functionality of the popup window back again?

Hi,1. Did you make any changes to the computer recently?Method 1.Let us first run the sfc scan and check if there are any system file corruptions.a. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.b. Type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannowThe sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. More Information about SFC scan can be found in this document:Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310747Method 2.If the issue still persists then create a new user profile and then copy your current users setting to that profile. I have run the SFS executable and the problem still exists in all 4 profiles: the window pops up, and it asks what I want to do, but the icons and the choices are missing. I do not feel creating a new user profile is the way to go, mainly because of the hassle, but let me know.
